Euro Growth Indicator February 2017

A steady growth path in the near term

Euro area growth will remain solid in the first quarter of 2017, according to the February estimate of the Euro Growth Indicator calculated by EUROFRAME. The indicator suggests growth of close to 0.7 per cent in 2017Q1, unrevised from January. On a y-o-y basis the indicator’s estimate would translate into growth of 1.9 per cent in 2017Q1.

Euro Growth Indicator January 2017

Upturn in the euro area gathers pace

Growth in the euro area seems to strengthen, according to the January estimate of the Euro Growth Indicator. The Indicator forecasts the growth rate  to rise to 0.7 per cent in both the fourth quarter 2016 and the first quarter of 2017, up from 0.3 per cent recorded by Eurostat for the preceding two quarters. The indicator estimates have been revised up from December by 0.12 and 0.19 percentage points, respectively.

EUROFRAME Conference 2017: Call for Papers

The 14th EUROFRAME Conference on Economic Policy Issues in the European Union will be held on 9 June 2017 in Berlin (Germany). The conference will deal with "Growth and inequality: Challenges for EU economies". Submissions deadline: 15 February 2017.

Euro Growth Indicator December 2016

The – modest – recovery in the euro area continues

The December Euro Growth Indicator, calculated by the EUROFRAME group, suggests that euro area GDP growth will accelerate in the turn of 2016 and 2017. Quarter-on-quarter GDP growth in the euro area would accelerate to around 0.5 per cent in both the fourth quarter of 2016 and the first quarter of 2017, up from the moderate rate of 0.3 per cent reported by Eurostat for the summer semester 2016. These forecasts imply a rather stable year-on-year growth rate of 1.7 per cent up to 2017Q1.
